Squint (Strabismus) Treatment in Ludhiana — Dr. Ramesh Superspeciality Eye Centre
Squint (strabismus) is a condition in which the eyes do not align properly — one eye may turn inward, outward, upward, or downward while the other looks straight ahead. It is one of the most common eye conditions in children, affecting approximately 2–4% of the population, and can also develop in adults following stroke, trauma, or neurological disease. At Dr. Ramesh Superspeciality Eye & Laser Centre, Ludhiana, our dedicated MS (Ophth.) Squint Specialist provides comprehensive assessment and treatment for squint in patients of all ages — from infants to adults.
What Is Squint (Strabismus)?
Normally, both eyes work together to focus on the same point, allowing the brain to merge the two images into a single, three-dimensional view. In squint, the eyes point in different directions, causing the brain to receive two conflicting images. Over time, the brain may suppress the image from the misaligned eye — leading to amblyopia (lazy eye) and permanent vision loss in that eye if left untreated.
Types treated at our Ludhiana centre: Esotropia (inward/convergent squint) / Exotropia (outward/divergent squint) / Hypertropia (upward squint) / Hypotropia (downward squint) / Intermittent squint (eye turns only some of the time)

Benefits of the Squint Care
Earlier is generally better. Congenital infantile squint (present from birth) is often operated on between 6–18 months. For squints developing later in childhood, surgery is recommended as soon as the deviation is stable and non-surgical options have been optimised. Our Ludhiana squint specialist will advise the ideal timing for your child.
Squint surgery is one of the most commonly performed eye operations in India, with an excellent safety profile. Risks include temporary redness and soreness, under- or over-correction (requiring a second procedure in approximately 10–20% of cases), and very rarely infection. Our surgeon will discuss all risks and realistic outcomes at your pre-operative consultation.
It is never too late for squint treatment in adults. Squint surgery in adults can eliminate double vision, improve cosmetic appearance, and significantly boost confidence and quality of life. Adults may also benefit from adjustable suture techniques for more precise alignment.
